Chris Byrne and Iliyana Nedkova are curating an exhibition by seven artists as part of the first ever Berwick upon Tweed Film and Media Arts Festival. The festival takes place between 16-25 September 2005, with the theme Crossing Borders.
The artists featured in the unique setting of this border town are Luchezar Boyadjiev, Heath Bunting & Kayle Brandon, Richard Fenwick, Zoë Irvine, Anri Sala, and Mare Tralla. The artists’ works will be shown in a variety of contexts: the Gymnasium gallery, the Maltings arts centre, a military cell, a Georgian shop, and the magnificent Elizabethan fortifications which surround the town centre.
From Wood to Silver

Filigree and symmetry, relief and geometry – all features of the exquisitely woodcarved ceilings in the wealthy houses of 19th Century Bulgaria. It is this inherited craftsmanship that inspired the Bulgarian artist Nikolay Sardamov to create his new silver jewellery collection From Wood to Silver.
This is the latest curatorial collaboration between ARC Co-director Iliyana Nedkova and the widely acclaimed designer. From Wood to Silver premieres as part of the Metalform group exhibition at the Roger Billcliffe Gallery, Glasgow on 3 September 2005, before continuing its tour to the Blucoat Display Centre, Liverpool.

Iliyana Nedkova’s former role as Associate Curator at Stills Gallery, Edinburgh bore fruit recently with the launch of the Low-fi commissions exhibition at Stills.
Low-fi, the makers of the Net Art Locator, began commissioning works of net art in 2003. For their second round of Low-fi Commissions they teamed up with Iliyana Nedkova and Sneha Solanki to choose five new works of network-based art for 2005. The show includes works by Mauricio Arango (Colombia/US), Cavan Convery (UK), James Coupe (UK), Radarboy (South Africa/Japan), Kate Rich (UK), and the UK Museum of Ordure (UK).
