Threshold artspace at Perth Concert Hall will host the public preview at Threshold artspace for a retrospective exhibition of Lei Cox – an acclaimed British artist based in Dundee and Bergen, Norway. Three of Lei’s earlier works were selected to run specifically on the Threshold Wave – a digital canvas of 22 flat screens.
Threshold is also pleased to host a one-night only screening of Captured – an hour-long programme of 13 artists’ films and videos curated by Lei and fellow artist Pernille Spence.

Luke Jerram receives Clark Bursary

The 6th UK Digital Art Award of £17,500 is the largest to date and will enable Luke to develop his career and proposed ideas through a supported residency at Watershed, a leading public media centre in Bristol.
Luke will document, present and discuss his work in progress, online and through events and exhibition, to engage audiences throughout the development process. With additional input from key partners such as Situations, a research and commissioning programme at the University of the West of England, Luke will benefit from a responsive network of support and facilitation.
Over 70 applications were made to the Bursary and following shortlisting and interviews Luke was selected. An expert panel participated in the selection process including ARC Co-directors Chris Byrne and Iliyana Nedkova; Helen Cole, Producer of Live Art and Dance at Arnolfini, Bristol; and Anthony Rowe, artist and previous recipient of the Clark Bursary.
The Bursary is funded by J A Clark Charitable Trust, Watershed, and Arts Council England South West. In association with the University of the West of England, Bristol.

ARC Co-Director Iliyana Nedkova will be talking to Mark Raidpere, the Estonian artist who represented his native country at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005. This public event is scheduled for 2pm, Friday, 20th October 2006 at Tramway, Glasgow. The talk will coincide with the opening of the first solo exhibition of Mark Raidpere’s work in the UK which runs until Sunday, 19th November 2006 at Tramway. Mark explores of issues around identity, marginalisation and isolation, through photography and video.

Threshold artspace at Perth Concert Hall continues its year long exhibition Players, showcasing the best in art games and sound toys. During October, Players introduces two new pieces, Mare Tralla’s Eurogame and Olle Essvik’s Sun Clock. Players has helped establish the Threshold artspace as the only public gallery in the UK with a consistent, year round programme dedicated to this emerging genre of contemporary art. The art games showcased as part of Players are interactive projects designed by independent artists who probe the possibilities created by digital platforms. The works introduce new meanings and messages; forge technical and aesthetic innovations and sometimes subvert the standards imposed by the mainstream gaming industry.
